12th Annual Alumni BB Tournament – Thank you!

The Maquoketa Community High School Alumni Association held the 12^th Annual Jack Marlowe Alumni Basketball tournament on Saturday, Nov. 29^th at the Maquoketa Community High New Gymnasium. 11 teams ranging in graduation years from the 1970’s through 2007 were involved in the tournament. The tournament serves as the main fundraiser for the MCHS Alumni Association. The money raised will fund the two annual scholarships presented to graduating seniors from MCHS next spring.

The Alumni Association would like to extend a special thanks to Jack Marlowe for being present at the event and assisting with the tip-off of the championship game; to the Maquoketa Community School District, Kim Huckstadt and Tracy Wilkins for the use of their facility; to Owen Hayes, Brian Moore, Kevin Burns, Brent Nugent, Dave McLaughlin, Seth Knickrehm, Michael Hermes, Michael Till, Will Renner, Chris Stillmunkes, Steve Ferguson and Frank Reisen for officiating the games; to Baylor Shanahan, Conner Taylor, Brodie Moore, Kevin Bowman, Austin Dietzel, Keith Keil, Mike Lietz, Greg Daniels and Jack Marlowe for help running the clock and keeping score; and to Sherry Yanda and Kathy Seyfert for working the gate and information table. Thank you to all of the 95 + alumni who participated in this year’s tournament. We hope to see you all next year.

This was a special day for the Maquoketa Community School District. Many former players and Alumni had a chance for the first time to view and enjoy the new facilities at the High School. The comments made about this new facility were very positive. We are looking forward to maintaining this tradition and bringing the tournament back to the High School Gymnasium next year. The day was filled with a lot of good basketball, but more so, a lot of good friendships were revisited during and following the event.
